Cycle mountains, vineyard-covered hills,
Mediterranean coast, Tour de France routes ... it's all here
Mountains and Maps road cycling trips are mostly based in Occitanie, France - a lesser-known area with varied and spectacular scenery and year-round good weather. This is a cycling paradise for all cycling grades. In addition to our centre-based tours, we organise bespoke cycling trips throughout France, especially the Pyrénées, Cévennes and the Alps.
We also provide training and cycling skills breaks, especially for cycling newbies or those looking to step up their distances or improve hill-climbs.

Mountains and Maps run self-guided and semi-supported cycling trips. Based in Herault, at the foothills of Haut-Languedoc Naturel Parc, this is a brilliant area for cycling. Think plenty of sunshine (300 days per year), little wind, smooth and empty roads - and you’ve come to cycling paradise. All within easy reach are mountains, stunning gorges, rolling hills and the Mediterranean coast.
The Pyrénées are also our ‘backyard’. We know it well and have great routes - from a lower-level Atlantic to the Mediterranean or a short break of some of the classic Tour de France cols.
Our routes cover Challenging or Comfortable grades. Challenging is for regular road cyclists wanting some steep climbs and descents and looking to cycle up to, or more than, 100kms per day. Comfortable is for those either new to cycling or just wanting a more relaxed day (50 - 70kms per day) with rides on lower level hills and valleys.
Our popular cycling routes include:
- Discover Herault - centre-based circular or linear routes in the mountains, by the sea, through France’s largest wine-growing area
- Grand Causses and Millau circuit
- Discover Cévennes
- Carcassonne and Cathar Country
Here’s what you can expect:
- detailed itineraries and guidance
- GPS downloads
- good cycle-friendly accommodation
- secure bike storage and transportation
- in-depth local knowledge
- airport or train station transfers where applicable
