What a way to start a new year - with a fantastic 3-day snowshoeing trip in the Pyrénées. We started the trip on Plateau de Beille which was busy with snow-tourers and families enjoying the dedicated toboganning slope. On snowshoes it was easy to get away from the crowd on quiet trails, covering over 10kms with amazing views towards Andorra and the Spanish Pyrénées.

We ended 2012 with a spectacular climb at Col de Puymorens, starting at 1,920m with steady ascent of over 330m in classic mountainous terrain. The reward at the end of the day was superb 6-course New Year’s Eve dinner.

The first day of 2013 took us from Sorgeat to Col de Jou: starting at 1,038m with over 600m ascent while it was snowing. Created a beautiful light and quietness in the forests and a truly wonderful day.

Fresh air, good snow, great exercise, stunning scenery, fine food and wine and excellent company - a perfect start to the year.
