A stunning hut-to-hut- trip in the Spanish Pyrénées, this is true wilderness snowshoeing. We stay two nights in huts which provide great food after a day on the mountains. There are some steep climbs, rewarded by the breath-taking beauty of the surrounding mountains. Suitable for good walkers and those with a good level of fitness, this is a winter mountain experience not to be missed.

The trip is restricted to 6 people for safety and is a fantastic chance to do true wilderness snowshoeing.

Arrivals and Departures

The week-long trips generally run from Sunday to Sunday. We provide a group pick-up and drop-off at Toulouse airport or train station. For those travelling by other means, please let us know where you will meet the group.

Grades

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need the fitness level of a mountaineer to snowshoe. However, you do need a good level of fitness that includes being able to walk comfortably for up to 4 to 5 hours at a steady pace. Ascents and descents are comparable to walking in any rolling mountainous terrain.

Essential to your normal walking clothing are: warm hat, gloves, waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, fleece, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle (1 litre minimum), 3-season walking boots, 35-50 litre rucksack with the ability to attach snowshoes to the outside. Optional, but recommended, are: hot water flask, gaters.
